Admission £12, includes coffee and cake. Children free

Timed slots from 10.30am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 3.30pm. Pre-booking is essential and will be available on the National Garden Scheme website from late December

We regret that we are unable to take private groups but it will be possible for groups to choose a date on offer for pre-booking on the NGS website and for their members to book individually.

The garden is not suitable for wheelchairs. Dogs on leads welcome

Six miles north of Brighton, off A23. No parking at the house; use the car park at Clayton Recreation Ground (near Clayton Church with entrance in Underhill Lane). Then follow signs across playing field to footpath by railway to garden back gate. Buses 270, 271, 272 and 273 stop nearby. The garden is about a mile on the footpath from Hassocks main line station. The Jack and Jill Inn is nearby.

We moved to Clayton over 40 years ago and have steadily developed the garden ourselves. Our garden is three acres in size, planted informally on clay at the foot of the South Downs. There are young and mature trees, shrubberies, roses and herbaceous plantings and of course, the snowdrops and the hellebores. The garden is owner maintained with some help and is designed for year round interest. There are plenty of seats so the views can be enjoyed at leisure.

This year 687 adults, 25 children and 35 dogs visited the garden and we are pleased to say that we were able to send off £9,151.01 to The National Garden Scheme. Since we started opening the garden in 1992 we have raised a total of £151,195.99 and there have been 22,998 adult visitors, 971 children and 362 dogs.
